Miles Joseph Cerny, age 79 of Antigo, died on Monday, July 7, 2025 at his home under the care of his family and Compassus Hospice. Miles was born on October 29, 1945 in Chicago, a son of Miles and Sally (Witt) Cerny. He was a graduate of East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, IL. He also attended the Tool & Die Institute in Chicago. He spent most of his career as a professional mold maker and business owner.
He married Mary Moretti on April 19, 1980 at Addison Bible Church in Addison, IL.
In 1985 he moved to Mountain and started Nicolet Plastics with friends Phil Hartman, Flip Hartman, and Bob MacIntosh. Following his retirement, he moved to Antigo where he worked part-time as a carpenter for Dan Nelson Builders. He also volunteered his carpentry skills at Silver Birch Ranch and Homestead Church.
Miles was a member of Homestead Church. He had a strong faith having served as a Deacon and enjoyed leading and hosting Bible studies and Packer parties in their home.
He enjoyed bow hunting, camping and fishing. He loved to travel taking family vacations and beach vacations to Mexico and Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; four children, Dawn (Bill) Howard of Birch Bay, Joe Cerny of Pacific, WA, Luke (Emily) Cerny of Grafton, and Greg (Mary) Gervais of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Shelby Howard, Jacob, Jude, and Ava Cerny, Christina and Annabelle Gervais; a sister, Joyce Denker of Peru, IL; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at Homestead Church in Antigo. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Memorials may be directed to Homestead Church to the building fund or Hope Life Center, Wausau.
