Florence Dorn

Florence Joanne Kragh Dorn, 93, of Brookings, South Dakota entered into eternal rest on September 26, 2025, at Peaceful Pines Senior Living in Brookings, South Dakota.

Florence was born to Ruby Berg Kragh and Ivar Andrew Kragh on October 24, 1931 in Lincoln County, Minnesota. When she was six and her sister, Lois, was two, their mother passed away. With help from family, neighbors and friends, Ivar kept the family together, later marrying Theresa Benz.

Florence was baptized, confirmed, and married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hendricks, Minnesota. After attending high school in Marshall and Hendricks, she graduated from Hendricks High School in 1949. That same year she married Wayne Gordon Dorn (also from Hendricks). They lived in many towns in South Dakota and Minnesota where Wayne worked as an electrical engineer with public utilities.

After raising three boys, she graduated from Riverland College and was employed as an instructor in the Austin Public School System, Austin, Minnesota.

After retiring, they returned to Hendricks and reconnected with friends and family. After her husband's death, Florence moved to Brookings. She appreciated her many new friends and acquaintances.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and step-mother, her sisters: Lois and Verlo, and her brothers: Neal and Bernard, Jr. and one great, great granddaughter.

Survivors include three devoted sons: Jerald (Brenda); John (Sandi); and Paul (Mary). Survivors also include seven grandchildren: Jesse, David, Candace, Timothy, Eric, Katherine, and Richelle and fifteen great grandchildren, and six great, great grandchildren.

Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1010 8th St S, Brookings will hold visitation Friday, October 3rd 5-7 PM and funeral service Saturday, October 4th at 10:30 AM. There will be a luncheon after the service followed by internment in Hendricks, Minnesota.
