Florence Agnes Dye, age 97, of Westerville, Ohio, went to be with Jesus on April 12, 2025, closing a life of gentle strength, unwavering faith, and enduring love.
Florence was born on October 2, 1927, in Stoutsville, Ohio, and graduated from Stoutsville High School in 1945. She lived a life defined by devotion-first to her beloved husband of 61 years, John William Dye, and just as deeply to her faith in God. Their marriage was a rare and radiant example of lifelong commitment, a true partnership grounded in prayer, patience, and deep affection. Together, they weathered life's seasons hand in hand until John's passing in 2009.
A devoted homemaker, Florence was the heart of her family. She was a woman of quiet grace and strong conviction-humble, kind, and generous in both spirit and action. For over 40 years, she shared her passion for art by teaching ceramics, china painting, pen art, and more. As a member and past president (1980–1981) of the World China Painting Association, Florence traveled the country teaching students and participating in shows and seminars. Her creative gifts were matched only by her love for people-she delighted in making new friends and leaving each soul she met a little brighter.
Florence was a long-standing member of Church of the Saviour United Methodist in Westerville. Her faith wasn't just something she practiced-it was the foundation of everything she did. As her grandson once said, "If our purpose here on Earth is to worship Christ, she not only exemplified that lifestyle, but thrived in it."
She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Tom) Reed of Grove City, her son Rick Dye (Debi Hedrick), her grandson Michael Dye, her great-grandson Logan (Cassie) Dye, her granddaughter Jennifer (Elias Rahal) Dye, and her great-granddaughters McKenzie Rahal and Emma Rahal. She is also survived by her brother Richard (Nancy) Drum, and sisters Evelyn (Henry) Schaefer, Mildred (Bobby) Gresham, and Becky (Don) Ramey, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents Ross and Mable Drum, her husband John, and her sisters Dorothy (Frank) Starbuck and Rachel (Gene) Piper.
Visitation will be held at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Stoutsville at 2:00 p.m., with food and fellowship to follow at St. John's Church in Stoutsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of the Saviour United Methodist 11239 Fancher Rd, Westerville, OH 43082, St. John's Church 11450 Brown St, Stoutsville, OH 43154 or the Central Ohio Diabetes Association https://www.lifecarealliance.org/donate/
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Ashford Senior Living and Hospice for their loving care and support during Florence's final days. Florence will be remembered for the steadfast love she gave freely, the peace her presence brought, and the faith that shaped her every day. Her legacy lives on not just in the lives she touched-but in the generations she nurtured, the art she created, and the prayers that linger in the hearts of all who knew her.
Some people make the world more special just by being in it.
When I die, I believe there is a place called heaven and I will be there with Christ, John and other loved ones. I believe that God brings people together. It's NOT a coincidence!
