Florence Geraldine Johnson, 93, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Shepherd of the Valley.
Florence was born March 12, 1932 in McDonald, Ohio, a daughter to Glennis and Sarah (Cluse) Mattison.
Florence was a nursing assistant at Shepherd of the Valley for 17 years retiring in 1997. She was a member of Girard United Methodist Church.
In her spare time Florence loved going to bingo, cheering on her favorite baseball team the Cleveland Guardians, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Florence leaves to cherish her memory her children, Bill (Janice) Johnson of Hilliard, OH, Kim (Larry) Went of Hilliard, OH, Karen (Phil) Fisher of Girard, Kathy (Tom) Alexander of Grove City, OH, Kara (Ross) Rankin of Louisville, OH, Buzz (Tami) Johnson of Pataskala, OH, Karla (Jimmy) Matig of McDonald, OH; daughter in law, Donna Johnson of Raleigh, NC; along with 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents Florence is preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson, who she married on July 7, 1951 and passed away on March 16, 1992; son, Bob Johnson; grandson, TJ Alexander; brothers, Glennis, Wylie, George, Dan, John and Bill Mattison; and sister, Sarah Beigly.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 3rd from 4-6 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard with a funeral service following at 6:00 PM.
Florence will be laid to rest at Niles Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Beads to Play Baseball:
Maddox Collins, 1741 Oak St, Girard, OH 44420 - checks should be made out to Maddox Collins, with Beads to Play Baseball in the memo line.
