Florence "Flo" Lorance Mimbs
Saturday, October 18, 1930 – Monday, June 9, 2025
Florence Lorance Mimbs, age 94, affectionately known as "Flo," passed away peacefully at her residence in McRae, Georgia, on June 9, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1930, in Cullman, Alabama, to the late Jessie Lorance and Janie Ramey Lorance.
The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 11 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Interment will be at Telfair Memorial Gardens.
Flo is survived by her husband, Norman "Buddy" Mimbs, children, Harry Wayne Powers (Cindy) of New Bern, North Carolina, Darrell Powers (Karen) of Old Town, Florida, Henry Powers (Flo) of Ochlocknee, Donna Powers Knowles (Floyd Knowles, Jr.) of Milan, and Kathy Douglas of Indianapolis, Indiana. Florence's legacy blossomed further with the joy of her ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and cherished.
Flo's professional life was marked by her role as the Head Chef at Robins Air Force Base, where she not only highlighted her culinary skills but also her ability to lead and inspire those around her. Flo had a passion for life's simple pleasures. She found solace in the tranquility of her garden, the thrill of a good catch while fishing, and the excitement of exploring new places through travel. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
As we bid farewell to Florence Lorance Mimbs, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart generously given, and a legacy that will endure through the lives of her family and the many lives she touched.
