Florence "Flo" Regel

Florence "Flo" Jean Regel (nee Woods), 100, of Naperville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025.
Flo was born January 12, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. She was a proud graduate of Morton East High School in Cicero, Illinois. Flo married her high school sweetheart John K. Mollison in 1943 and had two children, Linda Jean and John David, before they divorced in 1959. Flo was a working mother and held many administrative jobs including Executive Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools, District 89, in Glen Ellyn, for 24 years until her retirement.
Flo married Al Regel of Western Springs, Illinois, in 1972 and in 1987 they moved to Seminole, Florida, to enjoy their retirement years. Flo returned to Illinois in 2008 after the death of her husband and lived the remainder of her retirement years at Monarch Landing in Naperville, Illinois, and celebrated her 100th birthday there in January 2025.
Flo was known for her keen Scrabble playing and as a fine artist. She painted many still life artworks and portraits, including an 8ft. x 10 ft. wall mural depicting "Jesus with the Little Children", for her church, Park Place Wesleyan Church, Pinellas Park, FL. Flo was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Monarch Landing in 2018.
Flo will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, Florida, next to her husband Albert Regel, PFC, US Army, WWII, who preceded her in death in 2005.
Flo is survived by her son John D. Mollison and daughter-in-law Denise Lein of Naperville, IL, stepdaughter Jackie McCarthy (nee Regel) of Glen Ellyn, IL, and stepdaughter Janice Podoll (nee Regel) and son-in-law Todd Podoll of Santa Rosa, California.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband Albert Regel, daughter Linda Mollison, mother Charlotte Woods (nee Rowley), her father John W. Woods, sister Charlotte Balke (nee Woods), sister Dorothy Skoda (nee Woods), brother Don Woods, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service for Flo will be held at a later date and time.
Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville, was entrusted with arrangements.
