Florence L. Ruemenapp, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her residence in Ira Township on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on December 15, 1937, in Chesterfield to John A. and Anna C. (Gaunt) Schmidt, Florence was raised with a strong sense of family and dedication that would guide her throughout her life. She was the beloved wife of the late Roy J. Ruemenapp, with whom she shared many years of hard work and companionship on their cherished dairy farm.
Together, Florence and Roy dedicated themselves to their family and farm, spending countless hours tending to their land and livestock. At times, their commitment meant caring for up to 30 cows, a task they undertook with unparalleled diligence and love. Florence's passion for farm life was only surpassed by her devotion to her family, which was the central focus and great pride of her life.
Florence is survived by her loving children, Kim (Stephen) Henry, Susan (Gregory) Kuypers, and James Ruemenapp. She was a proud grandmother to her granddaughters, Emily Henry and Stephanie (Brandon) Shields. Dear sister in law of Carolyn Schmidt and loving aunt of many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Florence will also be fondly remembered by her friends Carol and April.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Anna "Dolly" Halk and her husband Donald, John Schmidt, Margaret Gotz and her husband Robert, and Martin Schmidt, leaving behind a legacy of family unity and love.
In honoring Florence's life and memory, the family kindly requests that in lieu of memorial flowers, donations be made to Immaculate Conception Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, supporting causes that were close to Florence's generous heart.
Florence's life was a tapestry of selflessness, commitment, and love. She will be deeply missed, her spirit forever cherished by those who knew her and loved her.
Visitation for Florence will be on Thursday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with an 4:00 pm rosary service at the Wasik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Rd. New Baltimore. Instate on Friday from 10:30 until an 11:00 funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 9764 Dixie Hwy. Ira Township. Immediately following mass will be a committal service at the Scared Heart Cemetery, Ira Township.
May she rest in peace, knowing she left behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to be part of her life.
