Paul Micheal Bennett, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 2nd, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to family and community. He was born on October 28, 1977, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, and raised in Romeo, where he developed a deep appreciation for wrestling and a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, boating, and the outdoors. Paul was a proud graduate of Romeo High School, Class of 1996, where he wrestled and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. His passion for the sport led him to give back as a middle school wrestling coach in the Romeo school system for several years, where he mentored and inspired many young athletes. A highly skilled stone mason and builder, Paul brought precision, creativity, and pride to every project he touched. His craftsmanship and work ethic were unmatched, and he found great joy in building things that would last. Paul was also a longtime, active member of the Michigan Ontario Muskie Club, where he found both camaraderie and competition. He achieved great success over the years, winning several tournaments aboard his beloved boat, Rock-It. Among all the events, his favorite tournaments were those held in support of the Special Olympics-causes that blended his love for fishing with his heart for helping others. He found peace and joy at his cabin in Grand Marais, where he spent countless days fishing for lake trout on Lake Superior, exploring Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore by boat, snowmobiling, and relaxing by the fire. It was his haven-a place where his adventurous spirit could truly thrive. Paul's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kelly, and their three children-Gavin, Kate, and Devon-who were the center of his world. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Roger and MaryBeth Bennett; his in-laws, Patrick and Carol O'Grady; his brother, Roger "Tony" Bennett (Jessica); his brother-in-law, Patrick O'Grady (predeceased by Danielle); his sister-in-law, Lauren Sargent (Derek); and his cherished nieces and nephews: Brooke Bennett, Natalie Bennett, Luke Bennett, Aubrey Sargent, Brody Sargent, Chloe Sargent, James O'Grady, Quinn O'Grady, and Connor O'Grady. Paul is also survived by many extended family members-including aunts, uncles, and cousins-as well as countless friends who will forever remember his warm heart, great sense of humor, and generous spirit. Above all, Paul will be remembered for the profound love he had for his children and family. His passion for life was contagious, his loyalty was steadfast, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Visitation will be held at Wasik Funeral Home in New Baltimore on Thursday, August 7th, from 4–8 PM, and Friday, August 8th, from 2–8 PM, with a Rosary being read at 7:15 PM. A visitation and funeral service will take place at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, located at 5322 Palms Road in Casco Twp., on Saturday. Visitation will be from 10:30–11:00 AM, with mass beginning at 11:00 AM, immediately followed by a celebration of life at the Rec Bowl, located at 40 Crocker, Mt. Clemens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Paul by spending time with your loved ones, casting a line in your favorite lake, or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors he loved so much.

Paul was such a kind, funny and caring person. He lit up every room he walked in. He non stop talked about his kids and it was so clear how much love he had for them. He would always share so many memories and stories about them and you could feel the love through his voice of how deeply he loved his children.
May Paul rest in peace and may the Lord protect him and his loved ones during this difficult time.

Paul-

I am heartbroken. Always such a generous dude. I only have great memories of you, my man. High school (prom), back roads, boating, ice fishing and laying stone. Here you are with my youngest, showing him the way.

Love you, buddy.

To: Bennett Family,
From: Lloyd Sengstock

I was deeply saddened when we heard about Paul.
He was a great young man who was always respectful and kind. I knew Paul thru my son´s who both graduated with him and remained in contact with Paul.
I was most familiar with Paul thru fishing and hunting and always shared our stories when we would meet at his Brother Roger big buck contest each year. His face would light up when he started telling you how his kids did in their hunting trips. It is rare to find such great young men dedicated as he, but the Bennett family are all giving and devoted.
My prayers are for the family and May God bring you peace at this time.

Words can´t express the loss and shock I feel that Paul is gone! The memories that Paul and I created over the years around duck/goose hunting are some of my fondest hunting memories! Paul was a special dude, and I feel blessed to have called him a friend. Heaven is a better place with a man like Paul there! Till we meet again in a duck blind my friend I loved you like a brother!
