Florence Lucille Vogel
January 27, 1926 – November 5, 2025
Florence Lucille Vogel, age 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on
November 5, 2025 in Columbia, MD. She is survived by her three children (Gary Vogel, Karen
Sanders, Shirley Kline), four grandchildren (Jennifer O’Neal, Charley Kline, Stephen Kline,
Christine Vogel), two great grandchildren (Kyle Maas and Dylan Maas), one great-great
grandchild (Elijah Maas), and niece and nephews (Susan Weil, Allen Valentine, Brian Valentine).
Florence was born on January 27, 1926 in McVeytown, PA on a dairy farm to Forrest Edward
Valentine and Florence May Valentine. She came to Washington, DC in 1945 to work in the U.S.
Treasury Department. She married the love of her life, Frank Lester Vogel, in her hometown on
May 21, 1949. They were married for 47 years and raised their family in Langley Park, MD
where they enjoyed memberships and social involvement with various churches, including
Grace United Methodist Church, Good Shephard United Methodist Church, and Wallace
Presbyterian Church. She and her husband loved to travel together and Florence loved line
dancing and playing bingo at the senior center in Langley Park.
Florence and family sold her home in Langley Park, MD in 2017 and she moved to Lorien
Harmony Hall assisted living in Columbia, MD. At Harmony Hall, Florence lived a very active
social life and loved family visits from her children, grandchildren, daughters-in-law (Candas
Kline, Linsay Kline) and grand-dogs (Mavis, Lilo, Stitch). She lived a full, healthy, and loving life
where she thoroughly enjoyed taking take of her children and grandchildren and seeing them
grow up. Her family will dearly miss her warmth, gentle nature, sense of humor, and
unconditional love.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home located at 4400
Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD 20705 on 11/7/25 from 12:00pm-12:30pm for remembrance
and funeral services. Florence will be buried beside her husband at George Washington/Mt.
Lebanon Cemeteries, located at 9500 Riggs Road, Adelphi, MD 20783.
