Floyd Willard Barger, age 88, a native of Saul, Kentucky and a resident of Crothersville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at his residence. He was born on July 25, 1934 to the late Joe Barger and the late Ica (Gay) Elgin. Floyd was Christian by faith and a retiree of Cummins. He served his Country proudly in the United States Airforce. He was a kind, generous man that would help anyone that he could and was a man of his word. He enjoyed fishing, gun collecting and he loved to tell a good story as long it was face to face, he hated talking on the phone.
He is survived by his four sons, Floyd E. Barger of Austin, Indiana, Mark Barger and his wife Donna of Crothersville, Indiana, Michael Barger and his wife Tina of Crothersville, Indiana and Matthew Barger of Crothersville, Indiana. Three brothers, Joe Barger and his wife Christine of Scottsburg, Indiana, Lester Barger of Seymour, Indiana and Jesse Barger and his wife Renea of Austin, Indiana. Two sisters, Viola Couch of Austin, Indiana and Miranda Dean of Seymour, Indiana. Nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Pearl Smith of Madison, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Elizabeth "Marie" (Parker) Barger, two daughters, Rose Marie Barger and Patricia Helt. Two brothers, Amerida Barger and Colonel Barger and three sisters, Sally Rawlings, Lilly Daulton and Tennessee Barger.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Christensen-Hoagland Family Funeral Home located at 80 N. 1st Street in Scottsburg, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Hensley officiating. Family and friends will meet at the Indiana Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM for burial services with full military honors.
