Floyd Ferrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Null & Son Funeral Home on Dec. 15, 2025.
Floyd Dean Ferrell, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Rolla, Missouri, on December 13, 2025. He was born on January 3, 1933, in Bruner, Missouri, and graduated from Sparta High School in Sparta, Missouri, in 1950. Floyd proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, where he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood. Following his military service, Floyd built a successful career as an entrepreneur. He owned and operated Show-Me Electronics, Inc. in Rolla for many years.
Floyd was deeply committed to his community. He served on the Rolla City Council from 1971 to 1977 and later as Mayor of Rolla from 1982 to 1994. He also worked with the Economic Development Council of Missouri, working to promote growth and opportunity throughout the Region. In 1997, Floyd and his wife, Caroleen, opened Realty Executives Ferrell Associates in Rolla, where they took joy in building a successful business and watching the community grow.
Floyd was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Greentree Christian Church in Rolla. Music was a lifelong passion, especially singing, and he shared this gift through participation in numerous musical programs over the years. Earlier in life, he was an active member of the Rolla Church of Christ, where he also served as a song leader.
Floyd was an avid student of World War II history and a passionate admirer of classic cars-his remarkable knowledge allowed him to identify a car's make, model and year just from a single photograph, much to the amazement of his family.
Floyd enjoyed making great memories with his family, friends, and the Rolla community he loved and served.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 39 years, Caroleen; his daughter Paula (Charlie) Coil; son Steve (Lois) Ferrell; daughter Kelly (Scott) Kennon; stepson Jim (Suzanne) Phipps; stepson Cory Phipps; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Simpson Ferrell; his parents Arleigh Ferrell and Betha Ferrell Garrett; and sisters Faunlee Workman and Betty Starr.
A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 19 at Greentree Christian Church in Rolla. Interment will follow at the Rolla City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Floyd's memory may make a memorial donation to Little Prairie Bible Camp.
