Carl Henry Heth

Carl Henry Heth, age 80, passed away on February 3, 2026 and is now resting in Jesus' arms. Carl was born on January 19, 1946 in Oelwein, Iowa to Esra and Eula (Kraft) Heth. After early childhood in the Aurora, Iowa his family moved to a farm near Hawkeye, Iowa. Carl was baptized at home and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawkeye, Iowa. He graduated from North High School, West Union, Iowa. When helping with the family farm he learned to farm, raise dairy cattle, and began his lifelong love of horses.

On October 17, 1970 he married Brenda (Lehs) Heth. To this union, two daughters were born-Deanna and Rita. Carl and Brenda farmed in Iowa until moving to Rolla, Missouri 47 years ago when he began a wagon and carriage building business. He loved horses! First, he had show ponies and a riding horse Flicka, then Percheron draft horses for many years. He built his own hitch wagon, cart and harness. Eventually, he raised and trained several oxen, showing them all over Missouri making new friends and training other teamsters.

For many years, Carl was an independent contractor and cabinet maker, building and remodeling homes in the Rolla area. Most of all, Carl loved his Lord and was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served as Elder, Trustee, Fellowship Chairman and Evangelism Board.

Carl enjoyed spending time with his family and friends sharing knowledge to improve their lives. Carl will be greatly missed by his surviving family including his wife, Brenda; daughters, Deanna and husband, Chris Buell; Rita and partner, Josh Howdeshell; grandchildren, Emma and Layton Southards; his brother, Harold Heth, Helen and husband, David Westphal in addition to several brothers and sisters in law, and many cousins. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Esra and Eula Heth, parents-in-law Heinz and Arlene Lehs, brothers-in-law, Jerry Lehs and Tony Scheckel and sister-in-law Marilyn Heth.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, 6-8 p.m. at Null and Son Funeral Home, Rolla, MO. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, February 12 before the service at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rolla, MO. Interment will follow at Elk Prairie Cemetery.
