Floyd “Gene” Franklin, age 85, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, in Collinsville, Alabama, with his devoted daughter by his side.
Born in Brasstown, North Carolina, Gene lived a full life marked by hard work, faith, and devotion to family. A longtime resident of Dalton and member of ChristChurch Presbyterian, he carried the quiet strength of his mountain roots throughout his years, touching many with his kindness, humility, and steadfast love.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon Galloway Franklin; daughter, Traci Franklin Turner; grandsons, John Keith Franklin and Vann Lucas Turner; and sister, Christine Dailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Gladys Hawkins Franklin; brother, James Franklin; and son, John Keith Franklin.
In keeping with Gene’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Family and friends are encouraged to honor his memory through quiet reflection, shared stories, and acts of kindness that reflect the gentle spirit of his life.
