Floyd Stephen Garger

Floyd Stephen Garger a long time Georgia resident passed away, Wednesday October 1, 2025, at the UVM Medical Center with his family at his side.
Born in Astoria, New York on November 13, 1938, he was the son of the late, Fluorian and Magdalena (Awender) Garger. Floyd was 86 years old.
Floyd was married to Gloria M. Zele, who predeceased him on October 4, 2010.
Floyd was educated in New York and graduated from St. Johns University in Queens New York. He then served in the U.S. Army for 6 years. He was a longtime associate with IBM, where he retired as a procurement manager. He also was a long-time member of the Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department where he served as a Captain.
Being an avid golfer he enjoyed playing at Cedar Knoll Country Club and Rocky Ridge Golf Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Theresa Tamasi and her husband, Paul Tamasi, Jr, grandson, Joseph Tamasi and great granddaughter, Gloria Tamasi.
Floyde is also survived by a brother, Arthur Garger and his wife, Veronica, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Ascension Church, 3157 Ethan Allen Highway, Georgia with the Reverend Father Karl Hahr as celebrant. Prayers of committal will follow in the Georgia Plain Cemetery.
