DEXTER- It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Floyd Carlton Johnson Jr., 59, on November 23, 2024.
Floyd was born August 05, 1965, in Dexter, Maine to Floyd and Evangeline (Olsen) Johnson. After leaving school he began his career in area factories. However, his true calling was as a jack-of-all-trades. He was a spontaneous and adventurous spirit which sometimes meant car rides with no destination. He enjoyed learning and sharing what interested him; be it new hobbies, gadgets, skills or listening to people share their life experiences. Floyd was the sort of person who would help someone because it was the right thing to do without judgment or expectation. He had an infectious laugh, and endless sense of humor. Floyd was known for his optimism and humor in the face of adversity, his love and loyalty for his family and friends as well as his kindness towards animals.
Remaining to cherish Floyd's memory are his daughters Megan (fiancé Chris and his children Aspen, Dagan and Rya) and Marji (husband Jon and their children Warren and Evelyn); his sisters, Priscilla (Phil), Roberta (Jim), and Sylvia (Rick); his brother James (Dale); several nieces and nephews; his girlfriend Tammy and her family; Patrica (mother of his daughters) and family; as well as many others close enough to be family.
He was predeceased by his beloved partner of 20 years Robin, his father Floyd Sr., mother Evangeline, sister Andrea, and nephew Thomas.
Floyd will always be remembered for the person he was in life.
The service will be held at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home in Newport, Maine on December 28, 2024, at 10:00 am and will be followed by an informal celebration of life gathering at the Palmyra Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to your local animal shelter in Floyd's name.

Floyd was a friend to everyone he met. He would give you the shirt off of his back or his last dollar without hesitation. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and had a laugh that could be heard throughout the neighborhood. He was a hard worker and had a wealth of knowledge about vehicles, home repair and everything in between. I met Floyd when I moved next door to him in 2013 and had the pleasure of calling him my friend ever since. I will miss him and his booming laugh and extend my sincere condolences to his family in their time of mourning.
