Floyd Chris Norman
May 31, 1949 - October 9, 2025
Chris Norman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher/coach, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on May 31, 1949 to Walter Leroy and Donna Bingham Norman, Chris grew up with his sister, Deanne Harris, in a home full of love and laughter.
On August 14, 1969, he married his sweetheart, Carolyn Walker, in the Salt Lake City Temple, beginning a lifelong partnership sealed for time and eternity. Their love was a shining example of faith, devotion, and joy.
Chris dedicated 35 years of his life to teaching, shaping countless young minds during his years in San Manuel, Arizona and Murray, Utah. In addition to his classroom work, he coached high school varsity soccer, sharing his passion for the game and mentoring many students both on and off the field. His patience, humor, and kindness made him a favorite among students and colleagues alike.
Beyond the classroom, Chris found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He was very handy and loved working with his hands - whether it was building things from wood, creating ceramics, or polishing rocks, he took joy in crafting, fixing, and creating. He also had a love of travel and seeing new things. Among his favorite trips were the many visits to Lake Powell with family and friends, and his family fondly remembers how those adventures often included a roadside stop with Chris under the hood, fixing the truck or boat that had broken down somewhere along the way. No matter the situation, he kept his cool, rolled up his sleeves, and turned every mishap into another family story to laugh about for years to come.
Chris also had a lifelong love of animals, and his loyal companions Annie and Jewelee held a special place in his heart.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings throughout his life. He found joy and purpose in serving others and lived his faith quietly but sincerely every day. Chris is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn and their six children: Chet (Peni) Norman, Curt (Jennifer) Norman, Cindy (Patrick) Clark, Clay (Natalie) Norman, Carrie (Dennis) Franklin and Christi (Rusty) Bluemel. He was also cherished by his 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy and pride to his life. Also survived by one sister, Deanne (Dale) Harris.
Chris's gentle spirit, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His family finds peace in knowing that through his steadfast faith, they will be reunited again for eternity - together forever, just as he and Carolyn promised so many years ago.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Lakeview LDS Stake Center, 9634 N. Duggan Street, Eagle Mountain, UT 84005. Friends and family may call from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Alpine City Cemetery.
