Floyd Orrell, 89, of Hot Springs, passed away on March 12, 2025, peacefully in his home with family beside him. He was born on November 16, 1935, in Hempwallace to Levi and Cecil Reynolds Orrell. He was the oldest of seven children. He was predeceased by his parents, spouse Donna Rae Sinerius Orrell, sons Jimmy Orrell, David P. Garner of Hot Springs, and siblings Kenneth, Austin, and Jessie Orrell, and Glenda Ham.

Floyd grew up in Hot Springs and attended Lake Hamilton School when it was a small building on Sunshine Road. His first job was at the age of ten, doing yard work and landscaping. At fifteen, he began working for Klein Shore Resort, where he lived and served as their maintenance man for 17 years.

Floyd was a well-known entrepreneur in the Hot Springs area, having owned and operated numerous local businesses, including Jackson News Stand, the Anchor Inn Pub, Country Pride Pub, 270 Auto Salvage, Discount Glass, Floyd’s Bar & Grill/The Finish Line, Trappers Landing/Boot Scooters, and Liquor Mart, to name a few.

He was also a dedicated public servant, employed full-time by the Hot Springs Police Department from August 1967 until his retirement in May 1989. During his tenure, he twice served as Captain of the Services Division and also served as Captain of the Patrol and Detective Division. He often said, “The secret of success in life is to be ready for opportunity when it comes.”

He married Donna Sinerius Garner Orrell in 1967. They were happily married for 22 years.

Floyd leaves behind his children, Debbie Chamberlin (David) of Siloam Springs, Floyd R. “Randy” Orrell (Diana) of North Carolina, Becky Garner Nooner of Hot Springs, Sabrina Orrell, and Floyd F. “Sonny” Orrell (Terri). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Candice (Brad) VanDee, Charles “CJ” Knabe Jr., Cassi Sheets, Trevor (Kayla) Sheets, Raechal Garner, Maranda (Jehan) Pirotte, Meredith Orrell, Jeremy (Hannah) Chamberlin, Jake (Brianna) Chamberlin, and Nathan (Ashlynne) Chamberlin, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Lefler, Arkansas Hospice, and Hot Springs Police Department’s Honor Guard.

Floyd’s funeral will be held at 1:00 on March 21st; the visitation will be from 12-1 at Smith Family Funeral Home.
