Forest Lee Helm

Forest Lee Helm, affectionately known as 'PAPA', passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, peacefully in his home in Bakersfiled, Califronia surrounded by loved ones. He was 92 years old; born January 25, 1933 to Howard Raymond Helm and Hattie May Helm in Riverside, California, and raised in Bakersfield, California until he relocated to Panorama City and then to Quartz Hill and lived his final years of life back in his favorite place Bakersfield.
Forest was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Emily Alice Helm; one grandson, (Ricky) Frederic Stotsenberg and one great grandaughter, Rowan St. Marie. Also preceded in death by his brothers Raymond Helm, David Helm and Carl Helm. Survived by his sisters, LaVerne Lindsey and Alice Yarzab. Survived by his cherished children, Lena Weber (husband Doug), Stella Helm, Emely Allisen Kelly (husband William), Cindy Topor (husband John), Howard Helm (wife Shannon) and granddaughter Danielle Helm Mischka; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson.
He and his wife lived in Panorama City where they raised their family, enjoying farming and gardening together. He worked hard in the termite and pest control industry which led him to open his own business, Helm's Pest Control. He had a passion for Antique cars, he bought and sold numerous Antique cars over the years.
They moved to Quartz Hill, California, in the early 80's, during this time he enjoyed buying and selling vehicles and real estate; in his later years he opened Helm Auto Sales in Bakersfiled, Califorina.
Forest considered himself a hard working man and instilled these ethics into his children. He lived life with humor, flirtation and willingness to offer unsolicited advice, whether you asked for it or not.
He had a lifelong love for animals especially his dogs 'Cowgirl and Daisey'.
He loved country western music; he sang, played the guitar and harmonica in his younger years, entertaining his children.
He enjoyed his time off camping with his children and grandchildren at the Kern River.
