Forrest Charles Ginn, 86, of Ellerslie, GA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 30, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Andy Ginn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Charles was born on July 13, 1938 in Ellerslie, GA to Roy Alton Ginn and Janie Thomason Ginn. After graduating high school, he met the love of his life, Sue Ginn, who he later married and started a family with, sharing a sixty-four-year marriage that sustained him throughout his life.
Professionally, Charles worked for Northfolk Southern as an engineering conductor, a job that he held for forty-one years. Beyond his family and career, he enjoyed spending time with his dogs, hunting quail, growing his garden, searching for arrowheads, restoring cars (he fully restored a 1950 and 1957 Chevy during his life), and tending to his cows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Alton Ginn and Janie Thomason Ginn, and his siblings, Geraldine, Clyde, Evelyn, Dan Alton, and Myrtice.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Sue Ginn; his three sons, Charles Dean Ginn (Donna), Karl Brian Ginn (Debbie), and Stephen Forrest Ginn (Amanda); his seven grandchildren, Will Ginn, Lauren Wright (Andrew), John Wade Ginn (Ashley), Kathryn Hall (Brock), Bailey Ginn, Kole Ginn, and Clay Ginn; five great grand-children, Ayden Wright, Layne Wright, Rhys Wright, Ryleigh Hall, and Charlotte Ginn; brother, Billy Ginn (Jane); nephew, Larry Culpepper (Deborah), sisters-in-law, Jane Pitts and Judy Burleson; brother-in-law, Emory Jamerson (Vickie), and other extended family members.
The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at St. Francis for the care they provided.
