Flanner Buchanan - ZionsvilleForrest Gene Sanders, 72, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Forrest was born on July 30, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Carl Edwin Sanders and Peggy Lucille (Strough) Sanders. He was a lifelong resident of Zionsville, graduating from Zionsville High School in 1971.
Forrest loved fixing and making things beautiful. He was a painter and contractor for almost 50 years, finally retiring in 2023. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones, nature, watching sports, and tending to his garden.
He will be remembered for his kind spirit and gentle demeanor, his wisdom, unwavering integrity, his generous heart, and the boundless love he had for his family and friends.
Forrest's memory will be cherished forever by those he leaves behind, including his children Meghan (Dan) Petolino and Cody (Rachel) Sanders, as well as two brothers Dennis (Debby) Sanders and Gary (Lee Ann) Sanders, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to reminisce and celebrate Forrest's beautiful life at Flanner Buchanan – Zionsville for visitation from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025. Interment will follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Westfield.
