Mr. Foster “Mel” Melvin Lumpkin Jr., age 68 of Franklin, KY passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.
His wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 804 Church St. Franklin, KY 42134. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the church.
Mel was born on July 16, 1957 in Tampa, FL to the late Foster Melvin Lumpkin, Sr. and the late Doris (Neeley) Ralston.
He is survived by his spouse of 25 years, Sissie Lumpkin; 2 children, Foster Matthew Lumpkin, Sr.(Sarah) of Franklin, KY and Rebecca Ann Dawson of Frankfort, KY; 9 grandchildren, Jazzmyn Dover (Cortlin), Foster Matthew Lumpkin, Jr. (Jerika), Jocelyn Martinez, Gabriel Lumpkin, Rubi and Jonathan Calderon, Selvin Flores, Michael and Shyann Dawson; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Darren Lumpkin and Sonny Ralston (Michelle); and several nieces and nephews.
Mel enjoyed vintage cars, watching NASCAR and was an avid bowler in his younger years.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 804 Church St. Franklin, KY 42134. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
