Foster "Gene" Sperry, a resident of Severn, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at his home. He was 81. Foster was born on November 27, 1943, in Huntington, WV and was the son of the late Foster Sperry, Jr. and Shirlene (nee Bowling) Sperry. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary E. Sperry, his son Al Sperry, and his brother Raymond Sperry.

Gene was a Purple Heart Recipient that served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After returning home from the war he went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier at the Glen Burnie Post Office for 32 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he and his wife, Mary, spent many happy years traveling to various NASCAR tracks to attend races. Gene and Mary also enjoyed taking day trips to restaurants to sample different cuisines which resulted in the Sperry Family Motto, "You gotta eat". After retirement Gene traveled the world as his bucket list goal was to have his passport stamped in all seven continents. This was a goal he achieved, many times over, filling several passport books full of stamps having traveled all over the world.

Foster is survived by his 2 loving children, Georgia Sperry (Brian) and Randy Sperry (Jennifer). He has 5 grandchildren, David Sperry (Brie), Max Sperry (Bree), Brandi Kolb (Phillip), Megan Buchanan (Mitchell), and Lauryn Bennett (Mathew) and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion of many years Janette Jackson.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory in Odenton, MD, on October 3, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Military Honors will take place at 11:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service. Interment will be private. Following the Memorial Service there will be a funeral repass luncheon held at the home of Gary and Stacy Heath, in Severna Park, MD.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Puppies Behind Bars. This organization employs incarcerated individuals to train service dogs for veterans and other first responder organizations. Gene was very proud of being a veteran that served the country he loved.
