Fotini (Dimouli) Diamantis, 93, daughter of Antonios and Malamati (Ziotas) Dimoulis, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Fotini was born and raised in a small village in Korifi, Greece. It was there that she married her childhood friend, Menelaos Diamantis, in 1953. On December 8, 1955, the young couple, with a wooden homemade suitcase, one set of clothes, and one pair of shoes, decided to leave family and friends behind and take the long voyage to the United States arriving in January of 1956. Greeted by their cousin, James Ziogas, Sr, at Ellis Island, while only speaking Greek, they began the journey to Bristol, Connecticut which would be home for the next 68 years. With an abundance of hard work and perseverance, they went on to raise their two children, who then raised their own families. Fotini was the backbone of the Diamantis home, instilling with pride and passion the traditions and customs of her Greek heritage in her family. Everyday was a feast and she was always hosting holidays and special occasions for family, friends and neighbors. There was never a day or night when she refused to make a meal, ensure all felt welcomed and never missed an opportunity to tell a story of her life in Greece. Fotini was the quintessential yiayia (grandmother), always prioritizing her grandchildren. Some of her happiest were sewing their many costumes, sharing customs and teaching them traditional Greek dances. Gardening was another pastime that kept her busy. She was a devoted member of St. Demetrios Church and always ready to cook and lend a hand for the church festivals. Like her husband, she worked hard, never complained, and nothing interfered with her desire to take care of others and being there when needed. She was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Kosta, and her daughter, Anastasia (husband Timothy). She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Alessandra (husband Andrew), Anastasia, Andriana, Fotini, Alexander, Juliana and Elaina and 4 great grandchildren, Sophia, Chloe, Stephen and Zoe.She is also survived by her two sisters, Stavroula and Frederiki, along with nieces and nephews.

Service will be held on Friday, November 8 at 10:00 am at St. Demetrios Church, Brightwood Road, Bristol CT
