Fran Stueck Obituary

Fran Stueck, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hans Poetscher officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 until 5:00 PM, Sunday at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.

Fran was born on November 1, 1944, in Waterloo Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Ruth (Strohecker) Losenicky. She graduated from Garrison High School class of 1962. On June 16, 1963, she married Ted Stueck at the Vinton Presbyterian Church.

Fran spent her life donating time to numerous organizations serving the community. She was a member of the Benton County Fair Board, Garden Club, and many other volunteer organizations. The highlight of her accomplishments was becoming the National Garden Clubs Inc. Central Region Director 2017-2019. She had fond memories of playing high school 6x6 basketball. Fresh out of high school, she started working for Hawk Bilt Mfg. in Vinton, Iowa. Soon after, she married Ted and embarked on a life of raising 3 wonderful boys on the family farm. Fran had many, many, hobbies including ceramic art, crochet, gardening, decorating wedding/graduation/birthday cakes, baking cookies/pies for local craft shows, Longaberger basket consultant, Master Flower Show Judge, Master Gardener, Red Hat Society, and watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball and football. Her greatest joy was raising the boys and eventually supporting all of her grandchildren attending as many of their activities/sporting events that she and Ted could. She was a devoted wife supporting her husband (Ted) of 61 years as he cared for the family farm and livestock. Later in life Ted devoted much of his time supporting Fran in her volunteer activities and then caring for her during the last few years they spent together. Their devotion to each other was a testament to the unselfish marriage they shared.

She is survived by her three sons, Tim (Tammy) Stueck of Dubuque, Tom (Cindi) Stueck of Vinton and Scott (Leanne) Stueck of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Katie (Aric Lefebure) Stueck, Mackie (Josh) Van Rees, Tyler (Josie Brown) Stueck, and Austin (Lexie) Stueck; her great-grandson, Jett Van Rees and one on the way; her sister Betty Clinton of Cedar Rapids; and her brother Joe (Diane) Losenicky of Garrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ted in 2020; and her brother Jim Losenicky.
