Memorial service for Frances Baker, 89, of Lawton, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Kirby officiating.
Frances passed away on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025 in her home.
She was born on February 17th, 1936 in Redwood City, CA to the late Francis LaCure and Marie Hauret. Frances moved to San Mateo, CA as a small child. She started roller skating in 1947 and was the Tri-State speed skating champion in California, Utah, and Arizona, for three years in a row. She received a silver medal in dance skating, as well. Frances graduated High School in 1954 from San Mateo High School and married her husband Corbin (Bud), on January 2nd, 1954, and to that union, five children were born. Frances and her family traveled throughout the years, beginning in Hawaii and moving anywhere from the West coast to the East coast for Corbin's Navy career. Frances was a very proud Navy wife for twenty-one years. Upon Corbin's retirement, Frances started her own upholstery business and did this for ten years. She enjoyed golf, and spending time with her family. She later moved to Kansas, OK to care for her mother-in-law, Billie. After Billie's passing, Frances settled in Lawton, OK to be closer to her children.
She is survived by two sons, Corbin C. III (Karen) Baker, and Jack L. Baker; two daughters, Erin L. Baker, and Terry B (Steve) Newcombe; a brother, Tim (Sharon) Texeira; four grand children, Angela, Tally, Michael, and Corbin; eight great grandchildren, as well as many other loving family members.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Corbin Baker Jr., of 34 years; a son, Kevin Baker; and a sister Clara Webb
