Frances Scoggins Blalock

Mrs. Frances Evelyn Scoggins Blalock, age 88, of Rydal, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Frances was born in Fairmount, Georgia, December 4, 1937, daughter of the late Ruby Lee Cornwell Scoggins and H. Weldon Scoggins. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Edward Lelton Blalock, son, Dean Edward Blalock, grandson, John David Blalock, daughter-in-law, Melinda Blalock, and brothers, Pete, Harris, and Max Scoggins.

Frances was a woman of deep faith and devotion, a faithful member of the Baptist faith whose life was marked by kindness, joy, and an unwavering love for her family. She held a lifelong passion for gospel music and found great fulfillment in singing with her family, a joy that brought comfort and happiness to many. A hardworking and compassionate individual, Frances served for several years in the cafeteria at Pine Log Elementary, where her gentle spirit and dedication touched the lives of countless students and staff. She later continued her career as the manager of Wendy's in Calhoun. In her quieter moments, Frances found peace and enjoyment in sewing and gardening. Above all, she cherished her family deeply. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special and treasured place in her heart. Her legacy of devotion, warmth, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons, Dwight and LaVerne Blalock and Alvin Blalock; daughter, Lawanda and Phil Bearden; grandchildren, Brandy Blalock, David Blalock (Becca), Darrell Blalock (Alicia), Joey Blalock (Summer), Alvin Blalock, Jr., Scott Blalock; LeAnna Magana (Mario) and Ryan Bearden; great-grandchildren, Addison Blalock, Ashley Blalock, Amanda Harris (Austin), Nick Blalock (Alyssa), Hayden Blalock, Keely Blalock, Kaden Blalock, Aria Magana, Lana Magana, Brantly Bearden, Waylon Bearden; great-great grandchildren, Sutton Jenkins and Greyson Harris; sisters, Glenda Upshaw and Hazel Woodall; brother-in-law, Gary Blalock (Debbie); sister-in-law, Gail Tilly (Jim); several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Blalock Family Cemetery. Pallbearers include David Blalock, Darrell Blalock, Joey Blalock, Ryan Bearden and Brantly Bearden.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
