Fran Carrion (Hixon, Brown) passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Albuquerque, surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Carrion.
Fran was born February 3, 1944 in Independence, KS to her parents George and Mary Louise Hixon and is the middle sister to her siblings, Georgeanne Maberry (Robert) and Joel Hixon (Carol). Fran is the loving mother to Michael Brown (Melissa) and affectionate aunt to Ericka Paul (Michael and children), Debbie (Ted and children), and David (Dianne and children), as well as a caring step-mother to Karyn Chavez (Richard) and Antoinette Gonzales.
Fran adored her grandchildren, Julien Brown (Marcella), Gabriel Brown, Gabriel Chavez (Jamie Lynn), Amanda Moore, Christopher Chavez (Monique), Nichole Gonzales-Jaramillo, James Gonzales (Tiffany) and Dominic Gonzales (Ashley). Fran had the great joy of her great grandchildren, Skylynn Moore, Jackson and Angela Chavez, Amari, Santiago and Gemma Jaramillo, Olivia Gonzales and soon-to-be-born, Avahlynn Gonzales.
She is also survived by a handful of close friends, including Melinda Rodgers, Rita and Wayne Galdony, and Vera Carrion-Schauweker.
Fran devoted her life to being a professional seamstress, fulfilling the needs and wants of her many customers, friends and family, at times, even creating one-of-a-kind wedding gowns. Her creativity was prolific and was wide-ranged from sewing, needle work, crocheting to baking, while sewing remained her true hallmark and joy. Her family and friends all have special memories of receiving a handmade gift from Fran. She was an active member of the Belen Art League, selling her popular “Frani Bags.” Fran would frequently break into a song and would tell you her opinions openly. She enjoyed her daily bible devotions and readings and loved the Lord deeply. Fran had the great capacity to create community wherever she lived and will be deeply missed.
A special thank you to the Presbyterian Hospice team, especially Jessica Sanchez and Lesly Manriquez Bravo, for their great care of Fran.
In lieu of a service and flowers, Fran requested donations to the Belen Art League. https://www.belenartleague.com/membership-form.htmlor call 505-861-0217.
