Fran Bruno passed away on December 6, 2024, in Castro Valley, Ca. She was 85 years old. Born on August 10, 1939, and grew up in a large Italian- American family in Berkeley, California. She was steadfast in her catholic faith throughout her life, living a Christian life, mentoring her children, teaching catechism, served as a Eucharistic minister and was an associate, supporting the Sisters of the Holy Family.
Over the years she worked for Alameda County, The Argus Newspaper, San Mateo District Attorney's Office, and a sales executive with Alameda Newspaper Group. But it again was her family that brought her the most joy with family additions of grandchildren Sarah, Ricky, Jacob, Ryan and Bella. As many events as she could fill in her journal, she attended sporting events, recitals, birthdays, and Donut Grow Ups - and even joined in on waterski excursions into her 60's to see her Grands in action along the Sierra Foothill lakes and reservoirs.
Music was her life thread – whether church choir, musicals, going to Circle Star Theatre, and larger than life Rock Concerts (Paul McCartney at least three times; and the Beatles LOVE cirque de soleil in Las Vegas); as well as, Frankie Valle, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, the Doors, Diana Ross and many other groups of the 50's – 90's.
Her Love for the Bay Area and the sports teams – Oakland A's and San Francisco 49ers, ran deep with a special place in her heart for Joe Montana and all of the championships the teams won.
Frances leaves behind a large family. Survived by her two daughters – Joanne Schwinghammer (Michael) of Valley Springs, Ca.; and Angela Wehrman (Brian) of Livermore, Ca. Grandchildren – Sarah Settlemoir (Perry III) of Dixon, Ca., Ryan Schwinghammer (Ashley) of New River, Az. and Jacob and Isabella Moen of Livermore, Ca. Cherished great-grandchildren, Perry IV and Lilly Settlemoir. As well as her many surviving nieces and nephews; and former sons-in-law, Richard Coelho and Steven Moen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis & Antonina Bruno (nee Tardio); brother Anthony Bruno and wife, Charlotte and sisters, Antonina Mello and husband Rudy, Ann Cancilla and husband Joe, Marion McGee and husband Hugh, and Rosemarie Carminati and husband Glenn; niece, Diane Mello and grandson, Richard "Ricky" Coelho, Jr.
