Frances Agnes Connell, age 90, of Howell, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025. The daughter of the late Max and Mary Miller. Fran was raised in a bustling, loving household as one of thirteen children, a place where she learned the importance of faith, family and love. The values she carried with her throughout her lifetime.
Fran had a kind, gentle and loving nature. Her wisdom, quiet strength and warm heart drew people to her, and she built countless friendships along her life path. She had a strong faith and love for the Lord which she shared with others and relied on all the days of her life.
Fran married the love of her life Ray, in 1956, and they shared nearly seven decades of marriage until his passing in June of 2025. Their life together was full of adventure, love, laughter, family and friends. Together Ray and Fran lovingly raised their two children, RJ and Kari. Fran was a devoted wife and mother and with unwavering dedication she gave her family the kind of love that leaves a lifelong imprint.
Known for her love of the water, Fran enjoyed many years of summers spent at their cottage on Big Star Lake, which brought her some of her happiest memories spent with family and friends. She was also famously known for her love of Tic Tac's, Diet Coke, and all things sweet. Those who knew her best will smile at the memory of her always sharing her favorites, Snicker Bars and Jellybeans when they visited.
Above all, Fran adored being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Fran is survived by her children, Raymond Connell and Kari (married to Mike) Pitera; her grandchildren, Michael Connell, Anthony (married to Raelyn) Pitera, and Alaina (married to Tyler) Ralko. She was proceeded in death by her husband Ray, her parents and all twelve of her siblings.
The family will received friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 9:30 AM, for visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church 400 East Washington Street, Howell, Michigan 48843. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place immediately following at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fran's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
