Frances Ryan Dunaway, born November 10, 1944 has passed away in her home at the age of 80. She was born in New Orleans,LA and moved to Gulfport,MS at the age of 7 where she became a life long resident. She attended Gulfport High School and was a class of 1962 graduate. She then attended Meadows Draughon Business School in New Orleans in 1965.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert Leon Dunaway (2005), brother, Patrick Michael Ryan (2015), mother, Lucille McDowell Ryan and father, Philip Anthony Ryan, Sr.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Jennifer Dunaway of Key West, FL, Amanda Forbes-Dunaway of Gulfport, MS and 1 daughter-in-law, Jennifer Forbes-Dunaway of Gulfport, MS, 5 grandchildren, Brittany (Keith), Logan (Casey), Kyle, Cameron and Taylor, 2 great grandchildren, Chloe and Maverick, her brother Philip Anthony Ryan, Jr (Raeann), nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Prior to her husband’s passing you would find the two of them on a gold wing motorcycle somewhere across the country. She has always been a seamstress, artist and crafter, from helping to make both daughters’ wedding attire, painting anything that doesn’t move, rug hooking, woodworking to many things in between. But her main focus became quilting, especially after the passing of her husband. And that is where the therapy of quilting went from a hobby to a passion. It is where she has been for the past 20 years…at a sewing machine. If she wasn’t on her porch in a rocking chair admiring nature she would be found with fabric in hand.
Visitation will be from 12 until 2 PM Saturday, September 20th at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach with the funeral service following at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens. The family request in leu of flowers to please donate to your preferred charity.
