Frances Janette Gashaw, 83, a longtime resident of Davenport, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 18, 1942, in Foley, Alabama, to Glinnie Mae White and Aram Gill.
Janette was a devoted member of the Central Church of Christ in Haines City, where she faithfully served for many years. She spent over 44 years working for the Haines City Citrus Growers Association before retiring in 2008.
In 1962, Janette married the love of her life, Marlin Kedrick Gashaw, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of love, laughter, and family. A loyal fan of Alabama Football (Roll Tide!) and the Tampa Bay Rays, Janette enjoyed cheering on her teams almost as much as she loved cheering for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their games and events.
She was known for her warmth, generosity, and delicious home cooking, especially her famous red velvet cake, which no one could resist. More than anything, Janette cherished time spent with her family.
Janette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marlin Gashaw; her parents; and her siblings Eveline, Flora-Mae, Earline, Donnie, John, and David. She is survived by her siblings Lorraine, Barbara, Joe, and Ruby; her three sons Kyle Gashaw and wife Karen of Haines City, FL; Kelvin Gashaw and wife Debbie of Shelbyville, TN; and Keith Gashaw of Dayton, TX; as well as her grandchildren Mandy, Jenny, Lindsay, Shelby, and Brody, and nine great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life.
Affectionately known as "Gaga," Janette took immense pride in her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. She was blessed to love and be loved by each of them.
Though she will be deeply missed, the world was brighter because she was in it, and her spirit of love, faith, and family will live on in all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Central Church of Christ on Robinson Drive in Haines City. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. Final resting place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, Florida.
