As a young child her family relocated to Miami, FL and moved to Gladstone, MI when she was seven years old where she grew up. Fran graduated from Gladstone High School in 1957 and became a mother and homemaker, raising her four children. Once her children were all in school, she took a job at Cameron School in Gladstone where she was a teacher's aide. She moved from that position to a library clerk and a playground aide at the Middle School. In 1995, she got her Library of Michigan certification and went to work at the Gladstone School and Public Library, retiring from there in 2000.
She was Catholic by faith and was commissioned as a Lay Minister by Bishop Garland in 1998. She taught CCD, was a Communion Minister to nursing homes, a lector and a member of the Communion Service Team. She was also involved with Cursillo community.
Fran's community involvements included MARSP, Bay Sages, Bonifas Art Center, Escanaba Senior Center, Saint Francis Hospital, the Delta County Courthouse, and RSVP where was actively involved in volunteering.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents Bernice and Leo Anderson, biological father Donald McCrum, step-brother Albin Anderson and a sister at birth. She is survived by sons Michael, Gregg (Sarah), daughters Jan (Ed), Christine (Jim), Grandchildren Manuel Ortiz, Ben Eckstrom, Kelsey Eckstrom, Matthew Goetz, Christopher Goetz and Emily Frances Goetz and her great-granddaughter Charley. Fran and I found each other online, my grandfather John Louis Hoppa was her mother's brother. we shared info and photos, and she was a joy to know.
I am just now aware she passed, I had emailed her several times in the last year, with no answer. My heart goes out to her family.
