Fran Golden passed away at her home in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 20, 1939, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Fran spent her early years in Kentucky before moving to California, where she met the love of her life, Edward Golden. Together, they eventually settled in Fort Worth, Texas, after Ed was transferred there by the Air Force. Upon his retirement, they chose to make Fort Worth their permanent home.
Fran had a deep passion for horses and found immense joy in working with them. She was a proud member of the White Settlement Riding Club, where she served as captain of the drill team. Her days were filled with horseback riding, playdays, barrel racing, trail rides, and local parades-activities that brought her great happiness and lifelong friendships.
Her love for animals was boundless, treating her pets with the same affection and devotion she gave to her family. Fran also had a playful spirit and a love for bingo, where she formed close bonds with many dear friends at Reno Bingo. She enjoyed traveling, especially when it meant visiting a casino and sharing laughs with loved ones.
Above all, Fran cherished time spent with her family. She was the life of every gathering, known for her vibrant personality and her ability to make friends wherever she went.
Fran was preceded in death by her mother, Rosette; her husband, Edward Golden; her son, Jack Jr.; her daughter, Rebecca Watkins; and her granddaughter, Angela Reyes.
She is survived by her son, Don Golden (Zahreia); daughter, Debbie Hallman, and wife, Nadine Eddings; son-in-law, Roy Watkins; daughter-in-law, Yolanda Golden; grandchildren, Carolyn Golden, Allen Hallman, and wife, Mandy, Kevin Golden, Roxane Watkins, and Junior; ten great-grandchildren; cousins, and a host of dear friends who will carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.
Fran's life was a tapestry woven with kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to family. Whether through a warm embrace (she loved hugs and kisses), a shared story, or a hearty laugh, she touched the hearts of all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 11:30 a.m., at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
