It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Randy Dale Marr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Randy brought light, laughter, and love to everyone who had the joy of knowing him.
Randy was born on January 16, 1964, and spent his childhood in and around Gordon, Mineral Wells, and Cool, Texas. He was a proud student-athlete, playing baseball and football at Gordon High School and Mineral Wells High School. Throughout his school years, he stood out as a natural leader and charismatic presence-earning titles such as Most Handsome, Most Likely to Succeed, Prom King, Student Body President, and more. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1982, received his associate's degree in business from Weatherford College in 1984, and attended Tarleton State University until 1986. Randy was well known in Mineral Wells for his family's beloved convenience store, Marr's Shortstop, founded by his father. Working in the store instilled in him a strong work ethic and the salesmanship skills that would shape his lifelong career.
He began his professional journey briefly in Bail Bonds but spent more than 30 years in the automotive and RV industry, working at R&R Motors, Roger Williams, Explore USA, and most recently Legacy Chevrolet. His career was marked by extraordinary accomplishments, including being named National Salesman of the Month five times out of 101 retail stores, earning the Top Five Award in Sales ten times, the Top Ten Award in Finance & Insurance Sales, and Salesman of the Month for 26 consecutive months, with a total of 32 months overall.
Randy had an unmatched gift for connecting with people, and his success came from genuine care, quick wit, and sharp intelligence. Outside of work, Randy's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved fishing, golfing, gambling, traveling, movies, dogs, watching sports (especially the Dallas Cowboys), and creating memories with those he loved most. Randy and Monda shared a beautiful love story that began when they reconnected nearly 15 years after graduating high school together. What started as a rekindled friendship quickly grew into a lasting love, and on December 12, 1997, they were married. They began a journey that would span nearly 28 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was marked by devotion, laughter, shared adventures, and the kind of love that deepens with time. Together they built a family filled with joy, tradition, and unwavering support for one another. They traveled together to Jamaica, New York City, Honduras, Hawaii, and many places in between, creating cherished memories that reflected their adventurous spirits and deep connection. No matter where he was, Randy wanted his family close. He coached baseball for Chris, supported Lauren in her singing and pageants, and became a cheer dad for Emily.
As a grandfather, he was lovingly known as "Papa," cheering on gymnastics and taekwondo with pride. He never missed a chance to let everyone know how proud he was of his family. Randy was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. He was the master of jokes and nicknames, with a magnetic energy that made strangers feel like lifelong friends. His charisma was effortless, his kindness was genuine, and his intelligence shone through his actions more than his words. Randy's passing has left a void that can never be filled. He was taken from us far too soon, and the depth of our grief reflects the depth of our love for him. His laughter, his larger-than-life presence, and the warmth he brought into every room will be profoundly missed. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the countless memories he gave us and the legacy of love, humor, and strength he leaves behind. He will be missed every single day, but his spirit will continue to live on in his family and everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Ron Marr; his mother, Sandra Marr; his stepmother, Betty Marr; his sister, Carrie Ray Marr, and brother-in-law, Ricky Ray; his grandfather, Louis Marr; his grandmother, Melba Marr; his father-in-law, Richard Stroud, and mother-in-law, Joyce Stroud; and numerous extended family members.
Randy is survived by his devoted wife, Monda Marr; his children, Lauren Marr Reid and her significant other, Justin Bowen, Christopher Wegmann and his spouse, Treyce Wegmann, and Emily Marr and her significant other, Vasyl Manuzzi; and his beloved grandchildren, Madeline Reid, Cale Wegmann, and Bennett Reid. He is also survived by his brother, David Marr and wife, Debra Marr; his stepsiblings, Terry Scott Dale and wife, Deanna, and Kyra Dale-Ries and husband, Joe; his nieces, Stormy Finley and Misty Arwood and her husband, Greg Arwood; his nephews, Ronnie Marr and Reece Marr; and his uncle, Mike Marr, and wife, Sharon Marr. He leaves behind numerous extended family members and many dear friends who were like family.
