Frances Jean Kalupa, age 84, of Berlin, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
She was born March 5, 1941, in Alto, WI, the daughter of Bernie and Wilma Irene Bagget Vis. Franny was a 1959 graduate of Waupun High School. On May 25, 1963, she was united in marriage to Clifford "Bud" Kalupa at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Berlin.
Franny worked on the assembly line at Smuckers in Ripon for 13 years, as well as Rippin' Good Cookie and Miles Kimball Co., where she was a proofreader. She could make any house a home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Franny had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles and being outdoors, gardening and birdwatching. Her bright eyes and beautiful smile will be missed. Franny was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Berlin.
She is survived by her four children, John (Chris) Kalupa, Bernie Kalupa, Tessie (Sterling) Sewell and Katie (Mark) Broderick; six grandchildren, Melissa (Weston) Malcore, Jenna (Dylan) Rounds, Samantha (Ryan) Freemyer, Garrett "Buddy" (Katelyn) Sewell, Kelly Kalupa and Josephine Broderick; four great-grandchildren, Rylee, Brooks, Reese and Shay, with one more on-the-way; five sisters, Doris Miller, Nancy (Denny) Witthun, Linda Darnick, Arlene (Al) Abel and Sally (Duane) Kok; one brother, Earl (Julie) Vis; one sister-in-law, Jean Sprague; one brother-in-law, Dan (Jean Ann) Kalupa; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Franny was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford Kalupa on August 28, 2024; two sisters, Marilyn Miller and Norma Coburn; one brother, Barry Vis; five brothers-in-law, Tom Coburn, Don Darnick, Roger Miller, Ray Sprague and Stu Nitzke; and one sister-in-law, Tootie Nitzke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Parish, with Rev. Monsignor James L. Gunn officiating. Interment will be in Bush Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin, and on Friday at the church one hour prior to the services.
