Frances Dix McCormick age 97 passed away December 27,2025 at Sunrise assisted living in Jackson, NJ. She was a former resident of Adelphia and currently resided at Sunrise of Jackson. Frances was born May 27, 1928 in the original Freehold Hospital. The family moved to Red Bank where she graduated from Red Bank High School in 1945. She was a graduate of Mannes Music College of New York, attended Monmouth College of Long Branch and Graduated form Brookdale College with an Associate's degree in Fine Arts. Fran was an accomplished pianist and organist, serving as an organist of several local churches. Her final church before retirement was at Ardena Baptist Church for over 40 years. Frances was also a pre-school teacher at Oakhurst Day School for 10 years followed by 20 years at Freehold Presbyterian-Nursery School. During the Summers, you could find her enjoying the beach at Manasquan or re-doing antique furniture. She especially enjoyed holidays and family gatherings.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank Lester and Elizabeth Johnson Dix, her husband Pete (Howard) and her sister Jane Dix Berg. Frances is survived by her daughters Michelle McCormick and Melissa Struk and her husband Ed of Millstone; her sister Alice Dix White of Cumming, GA.: her two granddaughters Tammy Femiano and husband Jeff of Freehold Township and Andrea Powell and husband Joe of Bordentown, NJ.; her grandson Edward Struk III and his wife Anna of Freehold Township, NJ.; her three great grandsons Brandon and Gavin Femiano and Hunter Powell; her two great granddaughters Addison Femiano and Emma Jo Powell and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday December 31st, 2025 from 3pm to 5pm at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday January 2nd, 2026 at 10AM. Interment will follow at Ardena Baptist Cemetery in Howell.
