Frances "Fran" Morland, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend of
Cambridge, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, at the age of 83, as a result of injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle on the morning of August 7. Fran was born on February 10, 1942, in Old Washington, Ohio, to the late Harry and Edith (Kackley) Laughman. She was a 1959 graduate of Old Washington High School. Following graduation, she attended business college before getting married and starting her family a year later. After her children started school, Fran pursued her passion for education by attending Ohio University's Zanesville branch, where she earned her teaching degree. She began her career as a special education teacher in Newark City Schools. After relocating to Caldwell, she served as Special Education Supervisor for Noble Local and Caldwell Exempted Village School Districts, and later as elementary principal at Caldwell Elementary School. Fran concluded her career of 30 years, as principal of Stormont Elementary in the East Muskingum School District. On June 18, 1960, Fran married Charles "Ed" Morland, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and adventure. Nothing brought Fran greater joy than spending time with Ed, their four children, and eventually their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was endlessly proud of her family and loved sharing stories and pictures at every opportunity. After retirement, Fran and Ed traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico, Central America, the British Isles, Europe, China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Caribbean. They especially loved their yearly trips to Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, though Fran's favorite journeys were the family cruises they enjoyed with their children and grandchildren. Since Ed's passing in 2022, Fran embraced a new chapter of life with strength and grace. Her love for family only grew as she continued to spend time with them through visits and travels. Blessed with good health, she stayed active by participating in classes including line dancing, tai chi, and cardio drumming. Fran enjoyed a broad variety of activities while making many new friends through the Guernsey County Senior Citizen Center. Faith and service were cornerstones of Fran's life. She worshiped faithfully and contributed to numerous church and community outreach initiatives at Old Washington Presbyterian Church where she recently was serving as deacon. She also cherished life's simple joys-walking through her Ridgewood Acres neighborhood, visiting with friends, and delighting the neighborhood dogs with treats. Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ed Morland; her parents; and her granddaughters, Haley Griffiths and Lindsey Harrison. She is survived by her children, David (Martha) Morland of Zanesville, OH; Melanie (Chris) Harrison of Baltimore, OH; Greg Morland of Gahanna, OH; and Kristi (Rob) Griffiths of Granville, OH; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Morland, Sean Morland, Mitchell (Elise) Griffiths, Abby (Cameron) Comer, Connor Harrison, Trent Harrison, and Bryan Harrison; as well as her great-grandchildren, Adelaide Morland, Samson Harrison, and soon-to-arrive Miller Griffiths, all of whom brought her endless joy. Visitation will be held at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 23, from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., with services beginning at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Wes Jones will officiate, and burial will follow at Old Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old Washington Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 267, Old Washington, OH 43768, or to the Guernsey County Dog Shelter 62824 Bennett Ave,
Cambridge, OH 43725. Fran's online guest book may be viewed and signed at www.bundy-lawfuneralhome.com.
