Frances Parish Obituary

Frances Ann Parish, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, peacefully passed away on September 21, 2025, in Severna Park, Maryland.  She was born on September 6, 1932, in Thomasville, North Carolina, into a family that would instill in her the values of service and compassion which she embodied throughout her life.

Frances dedicated an impressive 40+ years of her life to nursing, most notably spending 30 years at North Arundel Hospital, working at St. Agnes Hospital, and University of MD.  Her vocation was not merely a career; it was her calling.  With an unwavering commitment to care for those in need, she lived to serve others, embodying the spirit of compassion that touched countless lives.

Frances was also a woman of many passions. She loved her family more than anything in the world.  Her legacy continues through her loving children: Sandra Grueninger ( Bill), Donna Brown, Kenneth Parish (Marcy), Mark Parish (JoEllen), and Allan Parish (Lisa); proud grandmother to Chris Bull (Stephanie), Nicole Hoey, Jessica Greer (Dave), Stephanie Edge, Jacob Parish (Kim), Stacy Jones (Matt), Samantha Wallace (James), Len Tillman (Kim), Alex Parish (Ashley), and Allison Parish; and a devoted great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren.  She created a nurturing environment where laughter and love thrived. Her home was a hub of joyous gatherings, where baking, gardening, and entertaining friends and family were some of her greatest joys.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Parish; son, Steven Parish; grandson, Tommy Bull; and brother, Arnold Motsinger.

Frances' contributions extended far beyond her career and family.  Her determination and kindness earned her the title of Volunteer of the Year in 1981, for Family Services in the European Theater.  She founded a Widow Support Group, tirelessly volunteered at Hospice of the Chesapeake and Meals on Wheels.  Frances also shared her faith and wisdom as a Sunday school teacher, faith circle member and refreshment coordinator at Messiah United Methodist Church.  Her involvement in her community included being a member of a Garden Club and the Pascal Senior Center, where her friendly spirit and engagement left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Her family invites all who knew and loved Frances to celebrate her remarkable life.  A visitation will be held on September 27, 2025, at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services in Glen Burnie, Maryland, from 11 AM to 1 PM, followed by funeral service 1 PM.

Though she has departed from this world, Frances' spirit of kindness, love, and service lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances' name may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake at www.hospicechesapeake.org
