Frances "Joan" Payne, age 91, passed away on January, 16, 2025, at her residence.
Joan was born in Greenfield, Indiana on September 28, 1933, to the late Maurice Holmes and Ruth (Harrison) Holmes.
Joan and her husband Charlie owned and operated Payne's Auto Parts in Charlottesville for 64 years. She worked at Eli Lilly for many years in computer processing, and in her spare time she love playing bingo, gambling and going to Florida and Las Vegas.
Joan graduated from Greenfield High School in 1951.
Survivors include her son, Randy (Cindy) Payne; daughter-in-law, Regin a Payne; five grandchildren, Chasity (Kris) Kindler, Melissa Jo Payne, Steven Payne, Greg (Amanda) Brinson, and Chris (Donna) Brinson; three step grandchildren, Woody (Katie) Fesler, Becca Case, and Jenny Macy; eighteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Payne; her sons, Steve Payne and John Kevin Payne; and nine brothers and sisters.
Services for Joan will be Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Bozell Funeral Home~Condo Chapel with Pastor David Oaks officiating. Visitation will be from 11 til 1 prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
