Frances Carol Laughter Peed, 84, of Hamlet left us to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday,

September 23, 2025. She was born on July 19, 1941 to the late George Spurgeon and Annie

Bertha Winbon Laughter, and grew up in Franklin County.

Frances Carol married the love of her life, Wallace L. Peed, in May of 1962. She was a faithful

member of Calvary Baptist Church. Above all, she was devoted to her faith and lifting those

around her up in prayer. She often enjoyed watching Major League Baseball and college

basketball-especially cheering for the NC State Wolfpack. However, her greatest joy was found

in her role as daughter, sister, wife, mother, and especially as "Granny" to Katie, Hinson, Robbie, and Eli.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wallace L. Peed, of Hamlet; her son, Patrick W.

Peed and wife Misty of Laurinburg; her daughter, Shelby P. Smith and husband Jimmy of

Hamlet; her four grandchildren, Katie, Hinson, Robbie, and Eli who she was so proud of; and

many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth, Curtis, George C., and John Laughter; sisters, Annie Louise Moss, Sally Laughter, Joyce Pearce, and Shelby

Laughter.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church, Hamlet.

The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 3:00pm, with Pastor Larry Frye officiating. Interment will be at Richmond County Memorial Park.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Jimmy Smith, 1106 Rice Street, Hamlet.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 406 McDonald Avenue,

Hamlet, NC 28345, and/or to Hospice Haven of Richmond County at 1119 N. US Hwy 1,

Rockingham, NC 28379.
