Frances Elaine "Susie" Pertee

Frances "Susie" Pertee, née Meddings, 75, of Fort Gay, WV, a beloved matriarch passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2024 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2024 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV with Pastors Jason Salmons and Emanuel Ferguson Officiating. Burial will follow in the Meddings Cemetery, Fort Gay, WV. She was born Sept. 6, 1949 in Naugatuck, West Virginia, to the late John James Meddings and Fern Brewer, Susie grew up in southern Wayne County under the guidance of her parents, John and Margie Meddings. As a young woman she moved to Columbus, Ohio where she worked for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation Services, Bureau of Disability Determination. After finding the love of her life, Arvil Pertee she moved home to Fort Gay, W.Va. and devoted her life to serving the Lord. Known for her hospitality, Susie welcomed guests with open arms and warm meals. She had passion for cooking and decorating, taking great pride in creating an inviting space. In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her step mother who raised her, Margie Finley Meddings, and brothers, Cornell Brewer, James, Leonard, Lawrence and Eugene Meddings. Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Arvil Pertee of Fort Gay; a daughter, Susan Salmons of Columbus, OH; three sons, Earnie Lee Salmons of Columbus, Alan Ray Pertee (Ashley) of Charleston, WV and Adam Pertee (Samantha) of Fort Gay; two sisters, Debbie Justice (Jay) of Fort Gay and Barb Williamson of Crum, WV; five brothers, Richard Meddings (Pam) of Crum, Woody Meddings (Kim) of Pikeville, KY, John Meddings (Pat) of Kenova, WV, Rick Brewer (Crystal) and Eddie Maynard, all of Williamson, WV; nine grandchildren: Jessica (Joshua) Johnson, Kylie Salmons, Carolynn (Alex) Haas, John Richard Bructo, Patrick Bructo, Lorelei Sheridan, Logan Pertee, Brooklyn Pertee, and Avery Pertee; and two great-grandchildren: Joshua "Parker" Johnson and Kain Bructo. Susie nurtured close relationships with extended family and friends, who will continue to be inspired by her legacy of love, determination, generosity and faith. A celebration of life will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne.
