Troy J. "TJ" Pertee, 83. of Sterling, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 at Smithville-Western Care Center after a lengthy illness.
TJ was born on Aug. 22, 1939 in Crum, WV to the late Thomas and Naoma (Brumfield) Pertee and graduated from Crum High School. On Jan. 30, 1960 he married Dianne F. Lutz and she preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2012. TJ and Dianne established Pertee Monuments in Wooster which continues on today with the third generation. He was a member of Rittman Church of Christ and had made his home in Sterling most of his life. TJ and Dianne always enjoyed playing cards with friends and TJ always enjoyed being with family and friends.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Valerie Pertee of Massillon and Jimmer and Denise Pertee of Sterling; grandchildren, Matthew (Bekah) Pertee, Nikki (Bernie) Pertee Guthrie, Jennifer (Nick) Harding, Elizabeth (JD) Rivera, Erica Rivera and Will (Melanie) Rivera; 15 great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Scarlet, Gwendelynn, Gracelynn, Ethan, Makenzie, Braxton, Parker, Dominic, Layne, Adrianna, Gabriella, Aubrey, Marianna and Nina; a brother, Willis Pertee of Barboursville, WV and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne; brothers, Boyd, Everett, Roy and Terry and sisters, Mary Etta Dalton, Betty Copley and Carrie Maynard.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Aug. 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Sterling Crown Hill Cemetery with Ken Miller officiating. It was TJ's request that there be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sterling Fire Dept., PO Box 35, Sterling, OH 44276.
The family extends their deepest thanks to the staff of Smithville-Western Care Center for the outstanding care that TJ received and to WellSpring Hospice. Also a special thanks to Shane Farley for all his help with TJ.
