Francis A. "Frank" Bosak
March 26, 1932 - December 26, 2025
Clarence, Pennsylvania - Francis A. "Frank" Bosak, 93, of Snow Shoe, was surrounded by his family at his home when he passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025. Born on March 26, 1932, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Andrew and Tofilia (Kobularchik) Bosak, Sr. On September 15, 1956, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Clarence, he married Ann Koleno. Ann passed away on August 16, 1988. He then married Joyce (King) Lyons. Joyce passed away on January 6, 2025.
Frank was a 1950 graduate of Snow Shoe High School, where he was known as a great pigskin passer. He enlisted in the US Army on December 11, 1952, and received his honorable discharge on October 22, 1954. He earned the rank of SGT and received the Korean Service Medal W/1 Bronze Service Star, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge for his military service. He worked at JH France Refractories in Clarence, retired on August 31, 1995, after 45 years of service.
Frank was a member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Clarence Moose Club #1565, a life member of the Snow Shoe VFW Post 5644, a member of the Clarence American Legion Post 0813 for 72 years and served as past Post Commander. He was also a member of the Clarence Young Democratic Club, Three Point Sportsman's Club, and a former member of the Clarence/Snow Shoe Military Honor Guard.
Frank was an Auditor for the Snow Shoe Township and then became Township Supervisor for over 30 years. He was instrumental in the creation of the Snow Shoe Township Building and Township Park including the baseball field, basketball and tennis courts, playground, and walking path. He loved the Snow Shoe Township Area and took pride in creating this place for families to gather. He was very community minded.
Frank coached the Moose Little League, Teener League, and Legion Baseball Teams. He was very good at playing pool and darts. He was a member of several Mountaintop teams. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. His favorite pastime was scratching lottery tickets. Even though he never got the big one, he continued to play. He loved sitting on the porch at his camp, waiting for the wild game to appear. His family enjoyed his special way of calling the deer and elk into the yard.
Frank is survived by his four children: Christine Surovec and her husband, Ronald, Corinne Besong and her husband, Patrick, Scott Bosak and his wife, Marcia, and Francine Bosak, all of Snow Shoe.
He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Heather (David) Swabick of Moshannon, Melissa Surovec of Snow Shoe, Michael Surovec of Bellefonte, Max Besong of Clarence, Shane Besong of Denver, CO, Hannah Bosak of Snow Shoe, Luke (Clarissa) Besong of Covington Twp., and Austin Besong of Snow Shoe; great grandchildren: Hunter and Hayden Surovec and the twins that will be born in July 2026 to Luke and Clarissa Besong, and one sister, Theresa Smith of Coatesville.
Frank found great comfort in the family pets-Sam, the best golden retriever ever, and the cats, Simba and George. They filled his quiet hours with love and gave him strength and companionship when he needed it most.
Along with his parents and wives, Frank was preceded in death by five sisters: Marion Chambers, Anna Danko, Helen Surovec, Marjorie Krupa, and Sister Antoinette Bosak, HIM, and seven brothers: Philip, Joseph, Thomas, Andrew, John, and infants Frank and John. He was also preceded death by three great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Luke, and Nathan Swabick.
Public visitation will be on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 10-11am at the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence. Funeral Mass will begin at 11am at the church with Father Matthew Laffey officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
