Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. - Snow Shoe on Dec. 13, 2025.
Evelyn M. Biggans, 75, of Clarence, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and went to be with the Lord. Born on April 15, 1950, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Edward A. Gummo and Margaret (Grubb) (Gummo) Gardner.
On November 6, 1971, Evelyn married the love of her life, Barry J. Biggans, of Clarence. Together, they shared 54 years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary just this past November, and they had been inseparable for 59 years, having dated for five years before their wedding. Barry remains at home and cherishes the love and partnership they shared.
Evelyn was a proud graduate of Bellefonte Area High School in 1969 and attended Penn State University for a time before starting her family. As she often jokingly said, "Penn State lost out!" She dedicated her life to being a homemaker, creating a warm and loving environment for her family.
A faithful woman, Evelyn was a longtime member of the Clarence United Methodist Church until its closure. She later became a part of the Snow Shoe Christian Missionary Alliance Church until her health prevented her from attending. Despite not being able to go to church in her later years, her relationship with the Lord remained strong, and she took comfort in her faith.
Evelyn was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bellefonte American Legion, Post 1600, and she took great pride in supporting the Armed Forces. Above all, Evelyn was devoted to her family. She was blessed with a wonderful husband, a loving son, daughter-in-law, and a precious granddaughter-each of whom meant the world to her.
Her love for nature brought her joy, whether she was riding her ATV through the woods, canoeing on a peaceful lake, or camping under the stars. Evelyn found peace and beauty in God's creation, often sitting quietly to take it all in.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Barry, one son, Jeffrey and his wife, Petra, of
Shepherdstown, WV, and one granddaughter, Zoe Biggans. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Gummo and his wife, Kathy, of Howard, and three sisters: Burma Gummo of Bellefonte, Debbie Confer of State College, and Tammy Davis and her husband, Grant, of State College.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Fisher.
In accordance with Evelyn's wishes, all services will be private. She will be laid to rest at Askey Cemetery in Snow Shoe Township.
In lieu of flowers, Evelyn requested that memorial contributions be made to the Honor Guard serving the Mountaintop area, a cause that was dear to her heart. Donations can be mailed to the Clarence American Legion, Post 813, P.O. Box 342,
Clarence, PA 16829, with "Honor Guard" noted in the memo line.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. in
