Francis Branton Obituary

Published by John F Givnish Funeral Home - Academy Rd on Aug. 16, 2016.
Francis Richard "Dick" Branton, age 75, of Philadelphia passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He was retired from the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he worked as a typesetter. He was a hard-working, caring man with a heart of gold. Dick enjoyed big band music, painting, crabbing, fishing, watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, and telling corny jokes that only he thought was funny. Dick was the beloved husband of Adeline M. (Mannera) Branton and loving father of Rhonda Marie O'Brien and Keith Francis Branton. He was the devoted grandfather of Jason Michael Branton, Daniel Patrick O'Brien and Katie Rose Aughinbaugh, and brother of Eileen Lamplugh. Also surviving are his cats, Eddie and Max. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dick's Life Celebration on Saturday starting at 9:30am at St. Ephrem Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem, PA, and to participate in his Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery. Arrangements by John F. Givnish of Academy Road. www.lifecelebration.com

I worked with Dickie at the Inquirer, he was a good man to joke around with. No matter how much I tried I just couldn't get under his skin. I will always remember him as long as I live because I will never find someone who I could clown around with like him. Well Dick Rest my man and what ever you do don't try to paint those pearly gates. RIP

You were a very nice man always smiling and always with a wave when you came to see your Mother-in-law, Nettie. I'm sure you will be missed by family and friends.

Mr. Branton was a true man and great provider. I remember when I was 8-9 yrs old Keith and I would be wild and crazy playing his Chuck Berry records at 5 am but he never scolded us because he knew how kids are. He would cook us breakfast instead and still smile. He always had a smile on his face always. Even when painting on the weekends and coming come with dried up paint al over his hands and body.
He was a great man, someone to look up to . He will always be missed!

I've only had the privilege to know Dick for (5) years. Even though our relationship was supposed to be business, we quickly became friends and knew many things about each others family. I'll miss the conversations, the coffee, the Eagles talk and especially his laughter. Life took Dick much too soon from the love of his life Adeline and the rest of us that loved him.
