Charles "Chuck" Broadwick Sr., 83 of Corpus Christ, Texas passed away Friday, January 2, 2026. Chuck was born in
Chicago, Illinois on February 15, 1942. He was raised by grandparents (Frank & Alice Wallertz) and relocated with them to Florida upon their retirement in 1956. He completed his high school education at Ribault High school in Jacksonville, Florida.
Charles served for over 16 years as an active member of the Duval County Volunteers Association as a volunteer and paid fire fighter, a well as being a member of the Florida Army National Guard.
During his life, Chuck was employed by a number of Municipal and Government agencies in the direction, operation, construction, and maintenance of airports in the United States and foreign countries. Some of the airports were Jacksonville International Airport, Phoenix International Airport, Corpus Christi International Airport in the states. Two of the world's largest airports, in Jeddah and then Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, were also amongst his professional portfolio.
Later in life he held the position of Assistant Director of Aviation for the City of Corpus Christi until leaving that position in 1990 to enter into private business. In 1992 he incorporated his business through the State of Texas as "Cellular Center, Inc.". With much effort the new business developed into a modest large agent for Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems of Texas. The business in name only was acquired by AT&T Wireless Corporation in 2001.
Later that year he purchased a small company "South Texas Games" as a operational division of "Cellular Center Inc. (CCI)", an arcade game supplier to Restaurants, Theaters, Skating Rinks and mom and pop businesses in six counties, that were family oriented.
Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Alice Wallertz, his mother and stepfather, Diane and Thomas Mohan, daughter Katherine Helen Hicks, ex-wife Linda Hubbs, and his mother in-law Helen Stannard.
He is survived by his son Charles Broadwick Jr. and daughter in-law Sundee, two grandsons Matthew & Michael, one granddaughter Katelyn, and his sister Susan Alice Brady.
Charles is a longtime member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corpus Christi and served in many different ministries. He was an inactive 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1202. He was an inactive member of a local Rotary Club and was named a "Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation of the Rotary Foundation of the Rotary International.
Graveside service will be held at the Seaside Memorial Park, Resurrection Section, off Santa Fe & Roberts, on January 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.
