Francis Perkins "Tanny" Buford

Francis (Tanny) Perkins Buford passed away on January 1, 2026. She was born on April 11, 1935; the sixth generation of her family born in Tallahassee, Florida. Tanny was a 1953 graduate of Leon High School and attended Florida State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Buford, sons Grant Peeples, Winn Peeples (Heather), grandson Jordan Peeples (Ashley), great-granddaughter Sadie Peeples, and by marriage, Lewis Buford (Georgia), Alice Buford, Brian Proch (Julie), Jessica Fisch (Kevin), Casey Chaviano (Nick), Constance Buford Cammarata (Chris), Nikki Buford Trafton (Jack) and Matt Buford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Eugene Perkins and Betty Cochran Perkins, and her brother and sister-in-law Thomas Eugene Perkins and Mary Lynn Perkins.

The words she wrote and lived by were: "Being pleasant is not a trait that is dealt to you like blue eyes or curly hair. Being pleasant is a personal choice. It is a choice that must be reconfirmed daily. You choose to be pleasant because it makes you happy, and being happy makes you pleasant - a very rewarding circle."

Tanny was a member of Christ Church. Her funeral service will be graveside, Oakland Cemetery, on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, Tanny asked that memorial contributions be made to the Leon County Humane Society, Big Bend Hospice, or Christ Church.
