Francis Ardean "Frank" Dunham

Francis "Frank" Ardean Dunham, of Freeport, IL, went to his eternal rest on December 22, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Retirement Home in Freeport. Frank was born October 9, 1930 in Pleasantville, Iowa, to James and Leona Dunham, both preceding him in death. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was active in most sports growing up and excelled at basketball.
On May 14, 1950, Frank was united in marriage to Marjorie Rinehart, in Knoxville, Iowa. To this union, three sons were born: Gregory, Douglas, and Robert. Over the years Frank loved camping and traveling with family, seeing much of our country and its wonders. His beloved wife Marjorie preceded him in death in May, 2013.
Frank was employed by United Airlines for over 33 years. He served the airline in Airport Operations at Des Moines, IA; Kansas City, MO; Toledo and Cleveland, OH during the first 16 years. He was then promoted to their Executive Offices near Chicago for the next 17 years before retiring. After moving to Lakeland, FL in 1989, he received his real estate license and sold real estate for Century 21 for a number of years.
Frank has always been a faithful and loyal Christian, attending and serving the Lord in all the churches he attended throughout his life. After retiring from the airlines, Frank served for a time as Minister of Adult Ministries at First Baptist Church in Elgin, IL. After retiring from there, Frank and Marjorie moved to Lakeland, FL for the next 17 years, before moving to Freeport, IL in 2006. Frank always had a good voice and loved singing in the choirs at the various churches he attended, as well as leading various Bible study groups. Frank and Marjorie helped establish the Senior Adult activity program at Zion Church (Young at Heart), where he also served as an Elder.
Frank is survived by his son, Gregory (Lianne) of Rockford, IL; son, Douglas of Freeport, IL; son, Robert (Valerie) of Appleton, WI; grandson, Scott (Megan) of Aurora, IL; granddaughter, Alexis of Kansas City, KS; granddaughter, Emily (Jake) Nelson of Indianapolis, IN; grandson, Anthony (Abby) of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter, Abigail (Topher) Rose of St. Louis Park, MN; great-granddaughters, Heidi and Sonya of Aurora, IL; sisters-in-law, Betty Rinehart of Phoenix, AZ and Willa Rinehart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and acquaintances throughout the country.
A private family memorial will be held in the future.
