Francis McKee Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Francis Leslie McKee Jr., known affectionately to friends and family as Les, passed away peacefully on the 9th of September, 2025, in Maryland. Born on the 12th of July, 1945, in Oklahoma, Les was a beacon of kindness and friendship throughout his 80 years of life.
Les grew up in a loving family, the son of the late Francis McKee Sr. and Catherine McKee. He was a cherished brother to his sister Rebecca Birch and a beloved uncle to his niece Renee Richardson-Hall and nephew Mark Edward Richardson. Les's warm presence and selfless nature were the foundations upon which countless family memories were built.
A proud graduate of the University of Baltimore, Les earned his Bachelor of Science and went on to have a fulfilling career in bookkeeping. His meticulous nature and keen eye for detail served him well in his profession, and his work ethic was matched by his dedication to the various associations he was involved with throughout his life. An avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Les' love for baseball was evident to all who knew him. He could often be found discussing the latest game, sharing stats, and cheering on his favorite team. His loyalty extended beyond the baseball diamond as he was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club in Ocean City-Berlin, where he also enjoyed playing shuffleboard at the local Elks Lodge.
Les's commitment to his community was further demonstrated by his active involvement with the Wi-Hi Reunion Committee for the class of 1963. His efforts to keep his classmates connected were a testament to his friendly nature and his talent for nurturing long-lasting relationships.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Les would describe him as the epitome of kindness, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. His friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure in his community, and his selflessness knew no bounds. Les' ability to see the good in people and situations inspired many and will be a cherished memory for all who were touched by his grace.
As we say goodbye to Les, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by genuine connections, unwavering support for loved ones, and a legacy of kindness that will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate to cross his path. Les's memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he brightened. He leaves behind a world that was undeniably better for his presence, and his spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness and friendship in the lives of those he touched.
A private celebration will be held later.
