LATHAM - Francisco "Frank" A. Barney, 94 of Latham, beloved husband of the late Rose M. (Dorr) Barney, passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 26th, 1930 in Watervliet he was the son of the late Luigi and Theresa (Marro) Barney. Frank proudly served in the US Air Force as an Airman from 1948 to 1952. He married the former Rose M. Dorr on September 24th, 1955 and the two cherished a loving and devoted union of 65 years prior to her passing in 2021.
Frank was employed by Fitzgerald Bros in Troy, NY later being sold to Callanan Industries Inc. where Frank was the Superintendent for their Cropseyville quarry for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Frank is survived by his children Tina (Kenneth) Dodge, Laurie (William) Murtaugh, Luigi Barney, Dario (Paula) Barney, Valerie (Jeffrey) Levine, and Linda Mazza, grandchildren Torie (Robert) Blake, Sarah (Max) Samu, Holly Dodge, step grandchildren Stephanie (Eric) Bayer and Gerry (Daniel) Cocran, great-grandchildren Makayla Blake, Brianna Blake, Jack Samu, and Penny Samu, his sister Nina Barney, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his late wife and parents, Frank is predeceased by his sisters Catherine (late Frank) Valente and Philomena (late Frank) Manzerra.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, October 24th, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
Frank's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 25th, 2024, 10:30 AM at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment with military honors will take place in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Frank's memory to Community Hospice at , or Disabled American Veterans at .
